David Alexander has worked as a part-time consultant through Chapel Hill Tech for more than 20 years, helping hundreds of regular clients solve their technological challenges in his free time after hours. He specializes in support for residential and small business customers and provides both on-site and remote support for Chapel Hill and surrounding areas in North Carolina.
David Alexander is an established Information Technology leader, currently serving as the Chief Information Officer for a North Carolina state agency. He has previously served as the CIO for a local university and has held several other IT management positions throughout his career after climbing the ranks first as a repair technician and later as a system administrator.
David completed his undergraduate degree in Business Information Technology from Virginia Tech in 2002 and his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler in 2016. He has several active certifications in project management (PMP, ACP, and Project+); information security (CISSP, GCIH, CISA); and general information technology (A+, Linux+, and ITIL). He has previously been certified and worked as a factory-authorized repair technician for assorted Apple, Dell, IBM, Lenovo, and HP desktops, laptops, servers, and printers.
David’s success in IT has been driven by team building, customer service, and accountability. Jenzabar completed a case study for his success at Shaw University, where he built an in-house IT team to better serve the students and the campus community. At NCSEAA, David’s team implemented a similar rating system for all IT help requests and received 99.6% fully satisfied rating from 498 completed surveys in 2023.
